Cockburn Island

Cockburn Island is a large island in the North Channel of Lake Huron, of approximately 30,000 acres. Halliday surveying was contracted to locate the boundaries of a recently purchased property along the south shore.

Due to the scope of the project and the need to bring our own transportation, we hired a tug from W&L Tugboat Service. Notice the photo showing a quad being loaded onto the tug.

Using a combination of GPS and conventional techniques, we connected all existing survey points and then laid out the boundaries required. We spent three weeks in the quaint village of Tolsmaville, where time has stood still since the 1950's. In total, we cut out approximately 10,000' of boundary line.
